Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why would I use LiquidTest to Record Selenium tests?
A: First and foremost, our Selenium Recording engine works better than anything else in existence. Other reasons include: Internet Explorer recording support, full featured IDE integration, data-driven recording, support for recording all Ajax and complex web content, robust element addressing, multiple XPath schemes, file download/upload support, popup windows + more. Recorded tests WORK!
Q: Will LiquidTest recorded tests run in my Selenium environment?
A: Yes, Absolutely. LiquidTest Selenium output is geared to ensure compatibility with standard Selenium environments and adheres to the Selenium standard.
Q: Have you found an example where Selenium IDE records correctly where LiquidTest fails?
A: No, never. If you find an example please let us know! The challenge has been set!
Q: Will LiquidTest recorded Selenium tests replay in Chrome, IE and Firefox?
A: They sure will!
Q: Can LiquidTest for Selenium be seen as a direct replacement for Selenium IDE?
A: Yes.
Q: Developers don't use Recording engines?
A: Really? So Developers use Notepad and not IDE's with predictive text? So Developers perform manual Refactoring? So Developers waste endless amounts of time by doing manual tasks that are easily automated? It is a myth that Developers do not use Recording engines. Developers do not use Recording engines that fail. They use Recording engines that work!
Q: Does LiquidTest use code from the official Selenium product?
A: The Selenium Java client driver is bundled LiquidTest for convenience of end users ie, removing compile errors. The LiquidTest Selenium server component implements the Selenium API. The Selenium Java client drivers are also utilized by JUnit to connect to Selenium RC. No direct calls are made into Selenium code from LiquidTest itself. These components are covered by the Apache 2.0 license. The Selenium client drivers are unmodified and can be replaced with newer versions by the end user.
